Initially Steph studied classical violin and piano, but while studying for a degree in early music Steph discovered the traditional harp or clarsach and found her musical direction. Steph is actively involved in the English and Irish traditional music scenes in the South East, working as a performer, teacher and workshop leader.
The clarsach or harp is a challenging instrument but one that can be great fun. Steph has a passion for this instrument and getting the best for her pupils, whether this is a solid technique, devising their own arrangements or getting into a regional style.
Steph has taught traditional harp in a variety of settings and is currently working with the London Irish School of Music and Small Harps for Coventry. Steph is also involved with English youth folk project Shooting Roots. When performing, Steph likes to play with English ceilidh band Swinging Molly and with a variety of musicians at folk clubs and festivals.
Steph is happy to put you in touch with the wider world of harp through music, players, makers, events and recordings... Anyone with harp-related queries please get in touch!
