Ed was born in Liverpool and classically trained on the violin, playing in a few orchestras up to about age 20, and then in the late 1980s to mid-1990s he played electric guitar in an Oxford-based rock band, but in 1996 Ed saw the light and became a 'folkie'! He now plays with busy ceilidh band the Larkrise Ranters, Oxfordshire folk group Spire, and Cotswold morris team Cry Havoc, and is also a self-confessed pub music session junkie - and a (stringed) instrument junkie too. Ed can offer teaching in fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, and hammered dulcimer. His principal interest is in English music, though he has also been known to indulge in a bit of French and Swedish from time to time.
