Alice has been teaching music for almost ten years, working with adults and children of all abilities in individual and group lessons, most recently at Matrix Music School in Sutton Courtenay. With classical training and years of performance experience in both classical and folk styles, she teaches violin, piano, singing, recorders and music theory, as well as folk fiddle.
Working by ear or from sheet music, Alice particularly enjoys teaching musicians who want to combine a knowledge of music theory and solid technique with traditional music, helping them to discover how to bring the music to life, as well as how to arrange and compose tunes, improvise harmonies, and to accompany tunes and songs.
In addition to teaching, Alice performs regularly with the Ellas Quintet, with ceilidh band Swinging Molly, and as a duo with Jamie Huddlestone. A museum curator by day, Alice has worked with musical instrument collections in Oxford and London, and has published articles on historical musical traditions in Oxfordshire.
